Four months
We're more than four months in and at times it seems like a lifetime has passed since we arrived in Spain, while other times it feels like those months have passed in the blink of an eye.
Joyous celebrations of big and small victories exist alongside challenges, disappointments, and near-constant confusion. Language, friendships, directions, processes—each comes with its own nuances, which we’re learning at a slow but steady pace.
During our time here, we've eaten our weight in delicious oranges, danced in triumph with every bureaucratic hurdle we’ve cleared, and celebrated our bravery navigating daily life in a country where we barely speak the language. We’ve also shed plenty of tears—feeling frustrated by the simplest tasks, moved by the Valencian community’s resilience after devastating floods, and heartbroken watching democracy unravel back in the U.S.
We chose this path—uncertainty over ease, challenge over comfort—deliberately writing a different story for ourselves.
Like life, this journey isn’t linear. We’re operating without a map, learning to be okay with not having all the answers, and embracing the disappointments as much as the victories.
As always, thanks for following along. Sending love and hugs. ❤️R&S
