Adventures, delicacies and the friendly skies

Hey y’all. Rhys here. My birthday weekend was amazing, surprising, spectacular and adventurous - who could possibly ask for anything more?! Here's a rundown of the outstanding activities MN planned and executed flawlessly...

Lunch on Saturday was at the Sundial restaurant, which is perched 723 feet above the city. The floor rotates so you get a 360˚ view of Atlanta in about an hour. We dined on fabulous food and, of course, indulged in scrumptious dessert. Funnily enough, we walked along the St. Patty's Day parade route on our way to the restaurant, and as we were having lunch, we were able to watch the parade from the sky.

Sunday we went to a jazz brunch and enjoyed a cornucopia of breakfast samplings, shrimp and the best biscuits we've had since we moved here. We also indulged in cupcakes from Saint Cupcake, our fave bakery in Portland, Oregon. (I’m thankful they ship their delicious cupcakes across the country!)

For the grand finale, we took a helicopter ride. But this wasn't just any helicopter ride because I got to FLY to chopper. Yep, you read that right - I flew a helicopter on my birthday! It was thrilling and terrifying at the same time. (Sidenote: I've been kicking around the idea of getting my helicopter pilot license, so if you happen to know anyone with a pretty good chunk of spare change, I'm open to contributions.) I'm pretty sure I didn't stop smiling til yesterday; although every time I think about it, I start smiling again.

To MN: Thank you for the best birthday ever and for making yet another one of my dreams come true. You are my one & only, my true north. I love you.
