Oh how we love NYC!

Our trip to New York was as amazing as we expected! We arrived on Friday to beautiful weather which would continue into Saturday only to exit too quickly for the remainder of our trip. Ending our time with drizzly rain and 50s made for a bit of a damper, but we persevered.

We walked all over the city exploring Chelsea, Greenwich Village, and Soho along with turning our sites further north to the areas around Central Park and Times Square. We never grow tired of just meandering through the endless city streets always discovering something new on each block.

After a long and arduous process, we came across our fave cupcakes. Drumroll, please...Crumbs bakery has the absolute best cupcakes in Manhattan. And we should definitely know. We tasted cupcakes from Burgers & Cupcakes (pretty good cake - delicious frosting) to Magnolia (don't waste your time) to a few other places we happened upon, but nothing compared to the enormity and the deliciousness that is Crumbs. Be sure to check them out next time you're in NYC.

Our other favorite discovery was Levain Bakery. Initially, we saw this place on Bobby Flay's Throwdown and were intrigued by their claim of a mammoth cookie with a crunchy outside and a chewy inside. They were divine - definitely the best cookies we've ever had.

While MN was working, Lucky rented a bike and took a spin around Central Park - basking in the sunshine and doing her very best to avoid the neophyte bikers who weren't really paying attention to things going on around them. A few close calls, but it was a spectacular jaunt that included riding around the entirety of the park and being amazed at the beauty of it all.

We also took a pizza tour of Brooklyn which was great fun! We went to two pizza joints - one was artisanal style and the other was Sicilian. Though we didn't love the pizza at either place, the fun came from our tour guide, Paula, who was hilarious and very knowledgeable, and from seeing Brooklyn from the comfort of a mini tour bus. Throughout the tour, we passed sites where movies had been filmed such as the street John Travolta walks down in Saturday Night Fever - a high point, mainly because Paula played the opening song from the movie and who doesn't love the Bee Gees?!

Be sure to stay tuned for upcoming entries as MN will soon head to Hong Kong for 6 weeks, and who knows what stories will come from that great adventure. Lucky will be joining her for the last week of the trip and cannot wait to pass along the tales from that excursion!

Thank you, NYC!
