Muchas gracias 2024
2024 started with spectacular fireworks exploding just down the street from our Airbnb in Porto, Portugal, and ended with an outrageous fireworks display just down the street from our apartment in Valencia. What happened between those two events feels mostly like a dream with a few loopty loops (and more than a few tears) thrown in to keep it real.
Most of January was spent exploring Portugal (Nazaré, Lisbon, & Lagos) before heading back to Atlanta where, after much contemplation, we decided to tackle our biggest adventure to date - moving to Valencia, Spain for a year. This meant applying for visas, a process that involved gathering more documents - and patience - than we could've imagined, getting fingerprinted, learning about apostilles & certified translations, plus trekking to Miami twice to finally seal the deal.
We filled the time in between with Jeep rides, helping our fantastic clients with organizing and real estate (thank you for your continued trust in us), road trips to TX, CO, AL, & KY, beach excursions to PCB, selling our Virginia Highland condo along with most of our belongings, and visits to a storage facility, while also making precious memories with friends, family, and friends who've become family.
Life being life, the highs came with some lows. The heartbreaking loss of two dear friends who played starring roles in our lives many years ago reminded us how fleeting life is and how important it is to cherish the time we're given with loved ones. We're forever grateful to have shared our lives with Ashley and Phil, two beautiful souls who we miss immensely and often "see" via the winks they send.
Leading with kindness and hope, we overcame hurdles and have been greatly rewarded with experiences we never dreamed possible, like living in Valencia, squeezing in a trip to Italy before year's end, and spending time with new expat friends who share our love of adventure.
