Art, apples, picnics and family
Highlights from the past few weeks…
Our visit to the High Museum of Art was inspiring. In addition to the modern/contemporary galleries, we loved the exhibition of photographs from the depression-era.

Picking apples at Reece Family Orchard was loads of fun, especially for Shannon because she got a chance to climb trees again like she did in her youth. The fruits of our labor: 1/2 peck of apples. Back at the market, we wandered the aisles, sampled some apple varieties, and tried some boiled peanuts. For Shannon, it was her first and last boiled peanut. They're yucky.

Lucky and her dad attended a Georgia Tech football game (Tech won), then the three of us visited the World of Coca-Cola which includes a massive room full of soda fountain machines where you can sample the flavors of soda from around the world. We don't even drink soda, and yet we participated in the all-you-can-drink soda-frenzy along with hundreds of other thirsty and highly-caffeinated individuals.

Picnicking in Piedmont Park, one of our favorite places in Atlanta, is always a highlight.

We said goodbye to Lucky's grandfather, DonDon. His passing was a bit of a shock, given that he had recently reported feeling the best he'd felt in a year. We'll miss so many things about DonDon - from playing cards with him and Grandmama to their playful banter. We'll miss his smile and his laugh. He was a beautiful soul and he was loved by so many people, including us. We love you, DonDon.
